22LR Ammo
The history of the .22LR or .22 Long Rifle as it is properly named has origins that can be traced back to the late 1800s.  It is the most common ammunition sold in the United States and is used by many types of rifles, handguns and revolvers.  The cartridge originated from the Flobert BB Cap of 1845 through the .22 Smith & Wesson cartridge of 1857, and was developed by the American firearms manufacturer J. Stevens Arms & Tool Company in 1887 by combining the casing of the .22 Long with the 40-grain (2.6 g) bullet of the .22 Extra Long.  22LR ammo is now most common for hunting small rodents, sports shooting and target practice.  It is commonly referred to as plinking ammo because it is so inexpensive.  Low cost, low recoil, low noise and a high accuracy makes this a favorite among shooters.
